WELCOME STEELERS FANS

Draft

DRAFT COMPLETED

For another year, the NFL draft is completed. The Steelers picked up a total of seven players during the draft and twelve rookie free agents. The first draft day for the Steelers seemed for the most part, to be very successful. The Steelers drafted Rashard Mendenhall (RB) from Illinois and Limas Sweed (WR) from Texas with their first two picks, both of which were considers steals at their position. With the last pick of the day, the Steelers drafted LB/DE Bruce Davis from UCLA. Unfortunately, most people are saying that the Steelers drafted fairly poorly the second day. With the fourth, 130th overall, pick the Steelers drafted offensive tackle Tony Hills from Texas. Their fifth pick was Dennis Dixon (QB) from Oregon, and their last two picks, both 6th rounders, were Mike Humpal (LB) from Iowa and Ryan Mundy (S) from West Virginia. Additionally to the draft, the Steelers went after twelve rookie free agents including center Doug Legursky of Marshall, linebacker Patrick Bailey of Duke, cornerback Roy Lewis of Washington, defensive linemen Martavius Prince of Southern Mississippi, Jordan Reffett of Washington, kicker Julian Rauch of Appalachian State, wide receiver Micah Rucker of Eastern Illinois, tight end Dezmond Sherrod of Mississippi State, cornerback Travis Williams of East Carolina and linebacker Donovan Woods of Oklahoma State, widereceiver Dorien Bryant of Purdue, and quarterback Mike Potts of William & Mary.
